We have a process that considers all your needs for the next phase of your life so you can have the reassurance to retire with confidence.

No Cost or Obligation

We’ll provide you with solutions, but you won’t pay a cent until you’re ready to become a client.

Simple Solutions

We’ll walk you through the entire plan and ensure all your questions are answered, without the complex jargon.

Your Free Retirement Assessment™

A 3-step process showing you how to
lower taxes, invest smarter, and maximize retirement income.

Step #1

Discovery Meeting (45-Min)

We will spend the first 15 minutes of this meeting ensuring your situation matches our expertise. (After all, you wouldn’t see a Cardiologist if you needed foot surgery!)

If we mutually agree there is a potential fit, we will spend our remaining time learning more about you and your unique challenges.

We will also share more about our firm and answer your questions.

Step #2

Share Documents

After our Discovery Meeting, we will securely request a few important documents from you.

These documents, coupled with what we learned during our first meeting, will help drive our analysis.

Step #3

Meet to Review Opportunities

During this meeting, we will deliver the results of your Retirement Assessment.

Our analysis will show you exactly what you can do to improve your retirement plan, lower taxes, and optimize your investments.

Think About It!

At the end of this process, we will simply ask you to think about it. We are looking for long-term relationships, not a quick transaction. If you decide that we aren’t a good fit, we will happily help you find another professional with the right expertise. There is never a hard-sell or pressure to say “yes.”

Who is your typical client?

We typically work with families who are 5 to 10 years from retirement and have accumulated at least $750,000 in investable assets. Many come to us when their finances have grown too complex to manage alone and they want a trusted partner to help ensure they’re on track to meet their long-term goals.

Our clients value their time and prefer to spend it doing what they love—whether that’s enjoying the outdoors, spending time with family, or giving back through charitable work. They choose to delegate financial planning and investment management to a professional so they can focus on what matters most.

Do I have to live in San Diego to be a client?

No, we are registered in multiple states and can work virtually with anyone in the United States.

What is a CFP and why is it different?

Not all financial advisors are the same.  At a bare minimum, those who have earned the right to use the CFP mark have accomplished a minimum education, experience, and ethical standard which is one of the the highest standards in the industry.  Learn more about the requirements here: CFP Certification Requirements

How do you get paid?

We offer one transparent fee that includes ongoing financial and tax planning, investment management, and tax-efficient retirement distributions.  We are true fee-only fiduciaries and do not receive commissions or kickbacks of any kind.

The asset-based fee is calculated based on the total value of the investments we manage.

  1. An annual financial planning retainer (no asset management) based on the complexity of your situation which starts at $4000.  You can pay either quarterly or semi-annually.
  2. Investment management and financial planning.  We offer financial planning services well as asset management through our discretionary investment management program.  The fee schedule is below:
    Account Value Annual Advisory Fee
    $0 – $250,000 1.35%
    $250,001 – $500,000 1.25%
    $500,001 – $1,000,000 1.00%
    $1,000,001 – $3,000,000 0.75%
    $3,000,001 and Above 0.50%

    * there is a $400,000 minimum for our discretionary asset management platform

Who is not a good fit?

While we take pride in helping families simplify and organize their financial lives, we may not be the right fit for everyone. If you’re looking to stay in full control and only want occasional validation, our approach likely won’t be what you’re looking for.

Our clients see the most value when they’re ready to delegate financial responsibilities and build an ongoing partnership with a trusted advisor.

Where are my investments held, and how are they protected?

We custody client assets with Charles Schwab, one of the largest and most trusted custodians in the industry. Your accounts remain in your name and under your control — we never take direct custody of your money.

At Schwab, your assets are protected through a combination of safeguards:

  • SIPC Coverage: Securities are protected up to $500,000 (including $250,000 for cash).

  • Additional Insurance: Schwab carries supplemental coverage that goes beyond SIPC limits.

  • Financial Strength: Schwab is a publicly traded company with a long history of financial stability.

This structure ensures your investments are both secure and accessible, with the confidence of knowing they’re held at a leading independent custodian. You can also track your accounts anytime through the Schwab mobile app or the Seawise client portal.
